What you capture

The whole encounter, exactly as you lived it.

Record the moment in full — what you saw, where, and the small behaviors that made you stop and watch. Then let the patterns of years quietly take shape.

Species & counts

Log the bird and how many you saw, with the date and time of day stamped in automatically.

Place & weather

Note where you stood and the conditions of the day — wind, light, and the season pressing in.

Behavior notes

Mark feeding, singing, courtship, that sudden dive — the details that turn a tick into a story.

Photos & calls

Attach your own field photos and record the bird's call, so you can relive the encounter any time.

Pins on a map

Drop each sighting onto a map and watch your favorite spots and quiet routes come alive over time.

Life list & insights

Your scattered notes become a living life list, a migration timeline, and gentle hints on when birds are most active.

Try it for yourself

Open the field logbook.

Stamp a sighting into the journal and watch your life list grow. This is a small taste of the real thing — every entry here stays right in your browser.

About us

Built by birders, for the long view.

🪶

We're a small team of birders and builders who believe a good sighting deserves more than a hurried scribble on the back of a receipt. ChronicleBird grew out of our own cluttered notebooks and half-remembered mornings — a wish for one calm, beautiful place to hold every encounter we'd ever had.

🐦

Our mission is simple: help you turn fleeting moments into a lasting record. Inspired by the field journals of classic naturalists, we built a tool that honors the quiet ritual of observation — no feed to scroll, no noise to wade through, just you and the birds you came to see.

🗺️

With ChronicleBird you capture each sighting the way you lived it — species and counts, the place and the weather, the behavior that made you pause. Attach a photo, record a call, pin it to the map, and over the seasons watch your life list, your milestones, and the rhythms of migration take shape in one warm, organized home.

🌅 ChronicleBird — where every sighting becomes a story.

Privacy policy

Your chronicle never leaves your device.

Effective Date: June 1, 2026

ChronicleBird was built on a straightforward promise: your observations belong to you, and they never leave your device. The app does not collect, store on our servers, or share any of your personal information. Everything you record lives locally, on the device in your hands. The sections below explain exactly what that means.

1. Information We Collect

We collect nothing. ChronicleBird has no accounts, no sign-up, and no login. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and we do not track your location, gather usage analytics, or build any profile of you. Everything you log — species, counts, places, weather, time of day, behaviors, field notes, photos, and recorded calls — is created and kept entirely on your device.

2. How We Use Information

Because we never receive your information, we cannot and do not use it. Nothing is analyzed on a server, monetized, or sold to anyone. Every feature — your life list, your map of favorite spots, your milestones and seasonal insights — is computed right on your device, for your eyes alone.

3. Data Storage

All of your data is held locally in ChronicleBird's private storage on your device. There is no cloud backend, no remote database, and no synchronization to any server we operate. Your chronicle exists in exactly one place: with you.

4. Third-Party Services

ChronicleBird contains no third-party analytics, no advertising networks, no trackers, and no marketing SDKs. We do not embed tools that quietly phone home. The app simply does its work and stays out of the way.

5. Data Security

Keeping data on-device is the most private design we know. Because your information never travels across a network to us, it is never exposed in transit or left sitting on a server we control. Your sightings rest behind your device's own protections — passcode, biometrics, and the operating system's safeguards.

6. Children's Privacy

ChronicleBird collects no personal information from anyone, and that includes children under the age of 13. Since nothing is gathered, transmitted, or stored remotely, the app is inherently aligned with the spirit of COPPA and is safe for young naturalists to use.

7. Your Control

You are always in complete control of your data. Add, edit, or delete any sighting at any time. To remove everything at once, simply delete the app — because we keep no backups and maintain no accounts, that single action erases your records for good. There is nothing for us to recover, because we never held a copy.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this policy, we will revise the Effective Date above and publish the new version within the app. Our core commitment — collecting nothing and keeping your data on your device — will not change.

9. Contact

Questions about your privacy are always welcome. Reach us at privacy@chroniclebirdapp.com and we'll be glad to help.
